As the weather changes, flowers start to bloom and baby animals appear in farm fields across the countryside. Many farm and garden centers are filled with the peeps of baby chicks waiting to go to their new homes. This month’s FARM Crate follows the chicks’ life cycle from embryo through hatching discussing needs of animals, comparing parents and offspring, and the structure of an egg. Learn about laying hens raised on a west Michigan farm and the ways the farmers care for their flock to provide eggs for grocery stores.

You won’t have to hunt far for these eggs!

What you get in your crate!
